Kamilla Belyatskaya, a Russian actress, tragically drowned off the coast of Koh Samui, Thailand, after a giant wave swept her away while she was practicing yoga on the rocks at the Lad Koh viewpoint. The actress, originally from Russia’s third-largest city, Novosibirsk, was sitting on her pink foam yoga mat, facing the Gulf of Thailand, when the powerful wave struck.
Moments later, Belyatskaya was thrown into the turbulent sea by a massive wave. Authorities confirmed that a man, who was not immediately identified, jumped into the water in an attempt to save her but was also caught by the waves. “Both of them disappeared,” said investigators, confirming that the pair were lost in the water. Despite search efforts by the tourist police, neither of them has been found.
The incident occurred when Belyatskaya was reportedly visiting Koh Samui with her boyfriend. She had been to the island many times before and was known to frequent the Lad Koh Viewpoint, which she had described on social media as “home” and “the best place on earth.” In a post before her death, she shared how much she loved this spot, often returning to it during her visits.

On the day of the tragedy, she arrived at the viewpoint in a red car, took her yoga mat from the trunk, and walked to the rocks alone. Later, locals discovered the pink yoga mat floating in the choppy waters. Rescue teams faced difficulties due to the ferocity of the waves, and by the time they reached the scene, approximately 15 minutes later, Belyatskaya had already disappeared. The search efforts were called off after 30 minutes due to the dangerous conditions.
The actress’s body was found later that weekend, roughly two-thirds of a mile from where she was last seen. As of now, the man who jumped into the water to rescue her has not been located.
In response to the incident, local authorities have closed access to the rocky area beneath the Lad Koh viewpoint for safety reasons. They have also set up a marine search and rescue center to coordinate ongoing efforts to locate the unidentified man.
