ISLAMABAD: Due to the intensity of the heat and the risk of a heatwave, the timings of federal educational institutions in Islamabad have been changed.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary of Education, federal educational institutions will now be open from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The new timings will be effective immediately and will remain in place until the summer holidays.
The Secretary of Education stated that the purpose of changing the timings is to protect students and teachers from the severe weather conditions. “The heat has intensified, and there is also a forecast of a heatwave,” the statement read.
In most parts of the country, the summer holidays are observed from June 1 to July 31. However, due to the scorching heat, Balochistan has already commenced its summer break. The Punjab and Sindh governments are also considering starting the holidays earlier this year to safeguard children from the extreme weather, although they have yet to make an official announcement.
The decision to adjust school timings reflects a proactive approach to ensuring the well-being of students and staff amid rising temperatures and potential heat waves. Parents and guardians are advised to stay informed about any further updates regarding school schedules and summer holidays.
