ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned the Chief Election Commissioner and its members, expressing outrage over the issue of local body elections.
During the hearing on the issue of local body elections, Justice Qazi Faez Isa asked why local body elections are not being held? By not holding local body elections, the court order is being violated,” he maintained.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa, in his remarks, said that it seems that democracy is no longer a priority. Where is Attorney General Khalid Javed? “If the Attorney General is with the Prime Minister, let him know that the Constitution is more important,” he warned.

The Supreme Court has summoned the Attorney General of Pakistan, Chief Election Commissioner, and members at the next hearing for clarification regarding the local body elections. It is to be noted that local body elections are delayed in the country.
Local body governments in Sindh and Punjab have completed their constitutional term. However, the Election Commission of Pakistan has not yet given a schedule for holding local body elections.
