Saudi artist Sabah Al-Dhafiri achieved success after many experiments mixing arts with science.
Sabah has started making oil paintings that move according to the temperature of the place.
If the temperature at this location drops to 18 degrees Celsius, the picture changes. Similarly, if the temperature rises to 30 degrees, it takes a different form.
It is the perhaps the first painting of its kind in the region that combines the laws of physics with the creativity of plastic.
In an interview, Sabah Al-Dhafiri said it shows the love of a great leader who encouraged and supported the youth and gave them opportunities to show their creativity.
“This idea was in my mind for years and every experiment was met with failure. Until finally the experiment was successful and gained great fame,” he said.
He said the experiment is essentially about balancing chemicals with oil paints.
“These are the colors that are sometimes affected by cold and sometimes by heat. Then the method of influencing the oil layer is adopted. Thus the image is changed to another colour,” he added.
About the benefits of his paintings, Sabah said that he collects many scenes and make them into one painting. “These scenes are meant for a specific meaning. In my paintings I rely on exaggeration of light and shadow.”
Regarding his professional skill in art, he said, “My beginning was like any plastic artist’s childhood. I loved drawing and was interested in drawing difficult things. Then gradually I have reached the level where my paintings are most unique.”
Sabah said he participated in indoor exhibitions from 2016 to 2022.
