The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Saudi Arabia have agreed on a 12-year deal to host the Olympic Esports Games, set to launch in 2025.
“The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced that it has partnered with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Saudi Arabia to host the inaugural Olympic Esports Games 2025 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the IOC stated.
The partnership between the IOC and the Saudi NOC will span 12 years, with the Olympic Esports Games being held regularly during this period.
Last month, the IOC revealed plans to introduce video gaming Olympics as part of an effort to attract and retain young fans and audiences.
The agreement with Saudi Arabia is pending approval by the IOC membership, which will convene on July 23-24 in Paris, just before the Summer Games.
