QUETTA: People’s Party’s candidate Sarfraz Bugti has been elected Chief Minister of Balochistan by getting 41 votes.
According to the details, an important meeting of the Balochistan Assembly was held today under the chairmanship of Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, during which voting was held for the election of the Chief Minister. At least 33 votes were required to elect the Chief Minister in the House of 65.
PPP candidate Sarfraz Bugti won by getting 41 votes. Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai announced the success of Bugti. The newly elected chief minister will take oath of office at 3 pm today at Governor House Quetta.
Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will reach the provincial capital of Balochistan today for a one-day visit to Quetta and along with other PPP leaders will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected chief minister Bugti.
Out of the 51 general seats of the provincial assembly, the number of PPP members is 11. Muslim League (N) is the second largest party in the province with 10 seats, while Balochistan Awami Party is the third largest party with 5 seats.
