Irfan Sharif, the father accused of murdering his 10-year-old daughter, Sara Sharif, was attacked with a knife by fellow inmates inside a UK prison.
Reports suggest Sharif suffered injuries from a sharp knife. Prison guards quickly intervened, preventing further harm. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of high-profile inmates in prison.
According to a report by Samaa News on Friday, Sharif is under medical care, and authorities are investigating the attack while considering enhanced security measures. Updates will follow.
The report states that Sharif reportedly sustained slashes to his face and body, requiring stitches. He received initial treatment at the facility.
A Prison Service spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the investigation into an assault on a prisoner at Belmarsh, with Sharif, aged 43, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Irfan Sharif and his wife, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life imprisonment for the horrific abuse and murder of Sara. The court described the abuse as “torture” and “despicable,” causing Sara “unimaginable pain, misery, and anxiety.”
Sara endured years of repeated beatings, burns, bites, and restraints, culminating in her death last August. Following the murder, her parents fled to Pakistan with her five siblings.
Irfan Sharif was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years, while Beinash Batool received 33 years. Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, was convicted of causing or allowing Sara’s death and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
