ISLAMABAD: A local court indicted the main accused Shahnawaz Amir and his mother Samina Shah in the Sara Inam murder case here on Monday.
According to the court, the main accused was found guilty of murder in police challan as he confessed to the murder during the investigation. The court has called the prosecution’s witnesses on December 14.
Shahnawaz Amir has confessed to killing his wife Sarah Inam, according to a charge sheet submitted by Islamabad police to the sessions court.
The challan further cited that the prime accused revealed that he had a heated telephonic conversation with Sarah and divorced her on the phone as the latter refused to send him money on multiple occasions.
During the course of court’s proceedings today, session judge Ata Rabbani heard the petition filed by Shahnawaz’s mother where Sameena Shah appeared before the court with her lawyer Nisar Asghar, where her told the court that according to the police challan Shahnawaz’s mother was present at the crime scene but she was not involved in the murder.
The lawyer argued that if the prosecutor’s case was not against Sameena Shah then she should be discharged from the case. “When police arrived at the crime spot, she handed over the suspect to them,” the lawyer added.
The suspect mother’s counsel further added that there is no evidence against Sameena Shah in this case so hereby we request the court to acquit her.
After hearing the argument, judge Ata Rabbani decided to indict prime accused Shahnawaz and his mother Sameena, and summoned the witnesses for Dec 14.
It may be added here that Shahnawaz Amir was arrested for allegedly killing his Canadian national wife Sara Inam. The incident took place at a farmhouse located in Shahzad Town where the suspect lived along with his mother.
