Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed’s father Javed Iqbal was arrested from his residence in Lahore on Thursday night.
According to sources, a heavy police presence was reported at the home of Javed Iqbal, Sanam Javed’s father, in Wahdat Colony, where he was taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed location.
Sanam Javed’s mother confirmed the incident on her social media account ‘X,’ stating that the police were standing outside and that her husband had been arrested.
Police have intensified their crackdown on PTI members ahead of the party’s planned rally in Lahore tomorrow (Saturday).
As the rally, scheduled for September 21, draws near, PTI has vowed to proceed despite ongoing police raids, arrests, and legal hurdles.
According to sources, the Punjab government is not prepared to allow the rally and has planned the arrest of PTI leaders. Therefore, more arrests are expected today and on Friday night across the province.
