In Karachi, another robbery incident unfolded as individuals disguised in ‘police uniforms’ targeted multiple houses in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area.
According to statements from the victims’ families, the robbers, posing as Sindh police officers and accompanied by plain-clothed accomplices, entered homes and made off with valuables such as gold, jewelry, mobile phones, and cash.
After completing a robbery at one residence, the criminals, still dressed as police officers, proceeded to target another house, taking not only valuables but also confiscating the CCTV footage from the scene. Authorities, including the crime scene unit, police, and ranger officials, responded to the incident following its report, launching an investigation at the site.
Last month, the Karachi police apprehended two accused criminals from Surjani Town who were allegedly involved in robbing people while impersonating police officials in the city. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mehroz Ali, the arrested individuals were part of a six-member robber gang specializing in posing as police officers during late-night activities.
During the investigation, the arrested suspects, identified as Arbaz and Junaid, admitted to their involvement in multiple house robberies across the metropolis. They carried out their operations by entering homes at approximately 4 am, restraining the occupants, and swiftly leaving after pilfering valuables.
In a subsequent raid, the police arrested the two suspects, leading to the recovery of a pistol, mobile phone, jewelry, a stolen LCD, DVR, cash, and other valuables from their possession. SSP Mehroz Ali emphasized that nine cases have been registered against the apprehended criminals at the Surjani Town police station.
