Robber arrested, accomplice flees after exchange of gunfire

KARACHI: A robber was arrested in an injured condition while his accomplice managed to escape after an exchange of gunfire with police.

The incident occurred on Main Shahrah-e-Faisal where the encounter occurred. One criminal was severely wounded in the exchange of gunfire while another managed to flee.

The suspect opened fire at a mobile police van at Perfume Chowk. In the exchange of fire, a suspect named Bashir was shot and arrested in a injured condition. His accomplice managed to escape while firing at the policemen.

A resident Ali Abbas had claimed that two criminals had stolen eight new mobile phones and a sum of Rs120,000 from him at Gulistan-e-Jauhar after which they followed them. He said the suspects opened fire at the policemen after spotting a vehicle in the area.

Police also recovered three mobile phones from his possession along with an illegal pistol, Rs3,000 cash and a wallet. SHO Shahrah-e-Faisal police station said a case has been lodged against the arrested criminal and his accomplice while further investigation is underway.
