LAHORE: Civil Judge Asim Hafeez, husband of the woman accused of torturing minor girl Rizwana, has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
Chief Justice Lahore High Court has appointed Hafeez as OSD in Rawalpindi and directed him to take charge before August 19. The court registrar has issued a notification in this regard.
The investigation of the torture case is underway as Asim and his wife Somia have been summoned by the joint investigation team.
The accused woman is in Adiala jail on judicial remand after a local court in Islamabad rejected the pre-arrest bail petition and ordered her arrest.
Meanwhile, doctors conducted plastic surgery on the face of minor Rizwana Bibi who sustained serious injuries in domestic violence.
Dr Romana Ikhlaq conducted plastic surgery on Rizwana’s face and the delicate procedure was continued for about three hours. The medics also disinfected her head injuries and shifted her to the ward
Doctors said her injuries still require two to three more plastic surgeries. They said Rizwana’s platelets and blood count have improved.
Professor Farid Al Zafar said both cheeks and eyes of Rizwana have been grafted. He said Rizwana is taking three meals daily. He said the provincial health minister is informed about Rizwana’s health on a daily basis.
