Riz Ahmed’s short film wins award at UK film festival

British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed’s short film has won an award at the 28th Raindance Film Festival.

Film ‘The Long Goodbye’ bagged the award online as due to coronavirus pandemic, the festival was moved online. Directed by Aneil Karia, a 12-minute short film shows what would happen in Britain if racists took over in the future. The film ends with a haunting poem called: Where Are You From.

Rizwan Ahmed is a British actor, rapper, and activist. As an actor, he has won a Primetime Emmy Award and has received nominations for a Golden Globe and three British Independent Film Awards.  

Earlier, Riz Ahmed earlier revealed that he counts late actors Irrfan Khan as his inspirations in life.

Rest in peace one of the greatest actors of our time, Irrfan Khan. I never met him but he was an inspiration and a hero to me and millions of others. His performances were consistently transcendent, he was a guiding light for so many of us. If you have not seen his work watch The Lunchbox, or The Warrior. A true artist, he uniquely spanned Bollywood and Hollywood and was acclaimed in both. His words in a recent letter to a newspaper about his illness are a reminder of his beautiful mind and of life’s fragility. He touched so many in such a deep way – and in that way, he lives on.
