After the Conservative Party’s worst defeat in the general elections in the UK, former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced his resignation from the party leadership.
The Labour Party leader Keir Starmer has become the new Prime Minister of the UK.
The 14-year rule of the Conservatives in the UK has ended, with the Labour Party achieving victory in the early general elections, making Sir Keir Starmer the new Prime Minister.
Vote counting for the general elections in the UK is ongoing, with results from 648 out of 650 seats being announced so far. The Labour Party has secured 412 seats.
In the general elections, the Conservatives won 121 seats and the Liberals secured 71 seats. After the defeat in the elections, Rishi Sunak gave his farewell address from 10 Downing Street on Friday.
The new Prime Minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, stated that he has accepted the invitation to form the government.
Speaking to journalists outside the British Prime Minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street, Keir Starmer said he just returned from the royal palace, where he accepted King Charles’ invitation to form the government.
Earlier, upon arriving at 10 Downing Street, Keir Starmer was warmly welcomed as the new resident.
