The news reports of the raid on the house of PPP leader and former federal minister Shazia Marri turned out to be fake.
The have been reports circulating on social media that a large sum of 97 billion rupees was allegedly recovered from the residence of the former BISP chairperson. It was also reported that NAB has conducted the raid and recovered the amount.
However, the reports have been debunked. False news fact-checker ‘Expose Propaganda’ said the photographs of large amounts of cash being attributed to Marrri are in fact old pictures.
The photographs relate to a raid last year in January 2022 at the house of Municipal Commissioner Korangi in Karachi. Journalist Asad Kharal has also shared these photos and deleted them.
In a message on social site X, formerly Twitter, Shazia Marri thanked also those who exposed the fake news and the propaganda against her. She said that she would be taking legal action against those who spread the baseless news.
“I’m grateful to all who exposed the #FakeNews related to me. Am touched by the overwhelming replies to the nasty propaganda that only exposes the sick minds of those who have nothing better to do. Will be taking legal action against those who’ve spread this fake news. Thank you,” she said.
