KARACHI: Legendary actor and renowned comedian Moin Akhtar is being remembered on his 70th birth anniversary today.
Born in Karachi on 24th December 1950, Moin Akhtar performed his first act in the play based on Shakespeare’s novel at the age of 13. The legendary actor won critical acclaim with his famous show called Loose Talk wherein he impersonated over 400 characters.
Besides, fans still remember him for his legendary performance in Half Plate and his stand-up comedy called ‘Bakra Qiston Per’ and Buddha Ghar Pe Hai with the living legend Umer Sharif.
From theater to the silver screen, Moin Akhtar’s work introduced nonstop laughter for everyone and became popular among the entertainment loving audience. He made his television debut on 6 September 1966, in a variety show on Pakistan Television (PTV) to celebrate the first Defence Day of Pakistan.

He was fluent in several languages, including English, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Memon, Pashto, Gujarati, and Urdu. In recognition of his artistic services, Moin Akhtar was also awarded the Presidential Medal for Excellence and the Star of Distinction.
Moin Akhtar’s popular TV dramas and programs include ‘Rosy’, ‘Intezar Paraye’, ‘Bandar Road Se Kemari’, ‘Angan Terha’, ‘Studio Dhai’, ‘Studio Pune Teentar Studio Dhai’, ‘Yes Sir Nawsar’, and many popular stages plays.
