A bogie of Rawalpindi-bound Tezgam Express derailed at Rohri Railway Station on Tuesday morning, suspending upcountry rail traffic, a private TV channel reported.
After the incident, rescue teams reached the spot and started the rescue operation. No casualties were reported.
Due to the incident, Bahauddin Zikriya Express was stopped at Begmanji Railway Station, while Shah Hussain Express, Green Line Express, and Farid Express were also stopped at different railway stations.
Sources said that normal traffic was restored after repairing the railway track. Earlier in January 2025, two coaches of the Shalimar Express derailed in Hyderabad. In another incident, Pakistan Railways goods train has derailed in Dina, a town of Jhelum last month. However, no casualties were reported in the accident.
It should be noted that, a large number of people opt to travel by trains in Pakistan, however the country has yet to upgrade its century old railway track as per the modern era.
