In a startling revelation, former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Rao Anwar Ahmed, has divulged explosive details regarding former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and the alleged corruption within the Sindh government.
During an interview on a private TV program, Anwar did not hold back, accusing Asif Ali Zardari of being the mastermind behind corruption amounting to a staggering Rs700 billion. He boldly stated, “Asif Ali Zardari is the king of the system mafia. In the last five years, 700 billion rupees have been laundered outside Pakistan.”
Anwar went on to reveal that, post-2013, the Sindh police had been involved in the seizure of people’s plots. He criticized the Sindh government, asserting that instead of focusing on controlling crime, they were engaged in other activities, highlighting what he deemed a weak policy in addressing criminal issues.
Known as Karachi’s most controversial cop, Rao Anwar officially retired from service at the end of 2019. Throughout his tumultuous career, encounters and accusations of corrupt practices have consistently shadowed him. Despite facing several disciplinary actions and suspensions, the most notorious being in the aftermath of Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud’s murder, Anwar was later acquitted by an anti-terrorism court.
Anwar’s recent revelations add another layer to the complex tapestry of Pakistan’s political landscape, unveiling serious allegations of corruption against key figures in the PPP.
