LAHORE: Rameen Shamim has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan Women’s National Cricket Team for the three-match series against West Indies women’s team. Fifteen-member squad for the series has also been announced.
This three-match series against West Indies will be played in Lahore. The first two matches will be played on October 24 and 26 at the Ghani Institute for Cricket, while the final ODI will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium on October 29.
The National Women’s Selection Committee has selected the team after watching the performance of twenty-eight players in the national camp in Murid.
After the ODI series against West Indies A, a tri-T20I series will also be played in which the third team will be Thailand Emerging. Apart from this, there will be two T20 matches against Thailand Emerging.
Apart from representing Pakistan in three ODIs and four T20I matches, Rameen Shamim has also led the Pakistan Women’s A team in the tour of West Indies in 2021.
Apart from Rameen Shamim, Gul Feroza Sidra Nawaz Shawwal Zulfiqar Umima Sohail and Tobi Hasan have played international cricket in the selected team of Pakistan Women’s team.
Pakistan Women’s A Team Rameen Shamim (captain), Amber Kainat, Anusha Nasir, Iman Fatima, Fatima Shahid, Gul Feroza (wicket keeper), Gul Rukh, Hamna Bilal, Noreen Yaqoob, Umima Sohail, Saima Malik, Shawal Zulfikar, Sidra Nawaz ( wicket keeper), Tasmia Rabab and Tubi Hasan while the traveling reserves include Fatima Khan, Mahim Manzoor and Syeda Khadija Chishti.
Regarding the team, Chief Selector Saleem Jaffer says that this squad includes those players who have participated in the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup Emerging Asia Cup, besides those players who have represented Pakistan’s national team in the recent past.
