To address the deteriorating indoor air quality, the Punjab Environment Department has ordered that air purifiers be installed in all malls and commercial plazas throughout the province.
To tackle the dangerous smog levels impacting cities including as Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala, the department’s Director General, Imran Hamid Sheikh, issued a notification.
The goal of this project is to give patrons of indoor public areas cleaner air.
In order to lessen the effects of smog and improve indoor air quality in the face of increasing pollution, district officials have been directed to make sure that the directive is followed, particularly in busy business districts.
Additionally, the department has begun a massive campaign against smoke-emitting vehicles in Lahore in coordination with the police and district authorities.
Raids are being conducted at bus terminals along Bund Road, where vehicles emitting excessive smoke were issued tickets, and 24 of them were impounded for breaching regulations.
The officials inspected emissions from passenger buses and took action against those violating environmental standards.
Environmental Protection Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar has said the crackdown against the violators will continue, and strict measures will be taken against those failing to comply with the environmental regulations.
