The Punjab government has denied imposing a tax on graves, clarifying that no such proposal is under consideration.
A 2019 clip from Samaa News has resurfaced this week, alleging that the provincial government plans to impose taxes of Rs1,500 and Rs1,000 on adult and children’s graves, respectively, in the upcoming budget.
However, Government officials have refuted this claim, asserting that no grave tax has been levied in Punjab province and no proposal for such a tax is under review.

Asiya Gul, Special Secretary for Local Government and Community Development, labeled the online claim as “fake,” confirming that no such proposal has been initiated or approved. Additionally, Aslam Nadeem, director of administration and finance at the Punjab Shehr-e-Khamushan Authority, stated he had not seen any such proposal and was “unaware of any tax on graves in the province.”
