LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to extend the lockdown across the province till 21st April due to rising COVID-19 cases.
The already imposed restriction was scheduled to end on 14th April but now the lockdown has been extended till 21st April. All the measures being taken to curb the virus will be implemented strictly during the lockdown.
Punjab has the highest number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan with the provincial tally at 2,336 while the death tally has reached 19 in the province.
Moreover, earlier this week, the Balochistan government also extended the COVID-19 lockdown till 21st April. All shopping malls, public transport, markets, parks, restaurants, and tourist-spots will remain closed until the designated date across the province.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose to 4,793 on Saturday after new cases were reported in the country. Sindh reported 1,214 cases, 656 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 220 in Balochistan, 215 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 118 in Islamabad and 34 in Azad Kashmir.
The COVID-19 has claimed 72 lives since its outbreak in the country, which includes 22 in Sindh, 25 in KP, 02 in Balochistan, and 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
