The Punjab government has announced bounties of up to Rs10 million for the capture of notorious kacha dacoits, following the death of the primary suspect involved in a rocket attack in the Kutcha area of Rahim Yar Khan District that resulted in the deaths of 12 police officers.
A government notification released on Friday specifies that high-value targets are eligible for a Rs10 million reward, while lower-tier bandits face bounties of Rs5 million and Rs2.5 million.
Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar said that a historic operation is underway in the riverine area, involving 320 police personnel from Punjab alongside forces from Sindh police.
In a response to the attack, Punjab police reported that the main suspect, Bashir Shar, was killed, and five of his accomplices were injured. “Punjab police retaliated against the terrorists’ attack in the kutcha areas. The main suspect who attacked the policemen yesterday has met his end,” the police announced in a statement on X.
