LAHORE: All primary schools and seminaries in Punjab will enforce the Single National Curriculum (SNC) at the advent of the new academic year from Monday (today).
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill said that the enforcement of Single National Curriculum (SNC) at primary schools level and seminaries in Punjab province would begin from August 2.
In a message on Twitter, Shahbaz Gill said that they have begun implementation of the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan and an important part of the PTI’s manifesto from Punjab province.
“On the beginning of the new academic year in Punjab from Monday (August 02), all public and private schools and seminaries up to the primary level will have a single curriculum,” he explained.
Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood has previously clarified things about the Single National Curriculum (SNC) to be introduced.
The minister said the SNC “prescribes minimum learning standards i.e. the core curriculum”. “Schools are free to teach any additional material or even additional subjects,” he explained.
The minister explained was that private schools can use any book that is consistent with Single National Curriculum. According to the education ministry, the Single National Curriculum would be implemented across the country from August 2021.
Punjab School Education Minister Murad Raas has said Single National Curriculum (SNC) is being implemented from Pre-1 to Class-5 in public and private schools and Madaris across the province from August 2.
Speaking at a ceremony on Saturday, the minister said that the government was determined to implement the Single National Curriculum despite opposition by several vested interests.
He said SNC was the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan which was now being implemented from Pre-1 to Class-5 in the first phase of the new academic session.
Murad Raas said that school teachers were being trained online through the Learning Management System. He said the incumbent government was utilising technology to facilitate schoolteachers and added ACRs system would also be shifted online like transfers.
