Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formed an 8-member committee to finalize the Terms of Reference (TORs) for providing free plots to the public.
According to details, in a meeting, she reviewed the progress of three- and five-marla housing schemes under her vision to ensure every homeless person has a home. Maryam set a target to construct 20,000 houses in Punjab by February and emphasized meeting the goal of building 100,000 houses annually.
The Chief Minister was informed that 35 housing schemes, including 2,807 plots, have been completed across 22 districts of Punjab. She instructed the acceleration of 9 housing schemes, with 1,119 plots in 7 districts. Maryam also reviewed the progress of the Apna Ghar program.
Under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, the meeting also reviewed recommendations and suggestions for the scheme to provide free plots to homeless citizens in the province. It was also briefed that loans of Rs8.2 billion have been released for the construction of 9,015 houses, and 2,050 people have also received the second installment of loans for the construction of houses.
It was briefed that under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program, 4,841 houses are under completion. CM Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar portal is receiving a warm welcome from the public, as the number of citizens has increased to 728,000.
CM was also told that about 400,000 applications for Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar have come with complete documents. More than 74,000 draft applications have also been submitted to the program portal, with the submission of more documents still ongoing.
