As students across Punjab prepare to return to school on January 13 following the winter holidays, the provincial government has announced a shift in school timings to accommodate the ongoing cold wave.
The new school schedule, which will be in effect from January 13 to February 15, 2025, is designed to help students cope with the frigid temperatures that have recently dropped to single digits in many parts of the province. In addition to the adjusted school hours, authorities have also relaxed the uniform requirements for students to ensure they remain warm while attending school.
Under the revised schedule, schools will operate from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on weekdays, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, however, the school day will be shorter, with classes running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
This adjustment comes in light of the cold weather conditions that often make it difficult for students, especially younger ones, to attend school comfortably during the early hours of the day. With temperatures dipping significantly, the decision to change school hours and relax uniform rules is aimed at prioritizing the well-being of students while maintaining their educational routines.
Parents and teachers have expressed their appreciation for the provincial government’s efforts to create a more comfortable learning environment during the harsh winter months. The changes are expected to provide relief for students who may otherwise struggle with the freezing temperatures early in the morning.
