It was initially announced that the public holiday would be observed on September 16. However, when the crescent of the Islamic month Rabi ul Awwal was not sighted on September 4, it was later confirmed that the 12th Rabi ul Awwal would fall on September 17. Consequently, a public holiday will be observed across Pakistan on this day.
On September 4, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened in Islamabad and announced that the crescent for Rabi ul Awwal was not sighted. Therefore, the Islamic month will begin on September 6. Following this, the federal government declared that the public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal) will be observed on September 17.
An official notification states that the country will celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on September 17, 1446, Hijri, during the month of Rabi ul Awwal. As a result, there will be a nationwide public holiday, and all schools, colleges, as well as government, semi-government, and private offices will be closed.
