PESHAWAR: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won six seats after repolling in thirteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held on Sunday. while its arch-rival Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) grabbed four seats.
In the re-polling for the first phase of LG polls, PTI candidates won the elections in six constituency while JUIF bagged 4 seats. The Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamat-e-Islami won one seat each.
Peshawar Mayor was won by JUI-F candidate while PTI won in Nowshehra, Jahangera, Banda Daud Shah, Domail and Dera Ismail Khan Tehsil Council elections.
PTI candidate Umar Amin Gandpur won the contest for the Dera Ismail Khan tehsil mayor slot as he defeated JUI-F candidate Kafil Nizami. Umar Amin Gandpur is the brother of Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Ali Amin Gandpur and Faisal Amin Gandapur, KP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
The thirteen districts where re-polling was held include Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Laki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Buner, Bajaur, Karak, Khyber and Mohmand.
The re-polling was held at 568 polling stations in 13 districts of KP for different city and neighbourhood slots of the province which were was postponed due to violence or death of a candidate in the first phase of the Local Government elections on December 25 last year.
