ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the “biased” decision of Judge Humayun Dilawar and announced to challenge the decision before the Islamabad High Court.
The district and sessions court judge sentenced the former prime minister to three years in prison in the Toshakhana case and ordered his immediate arrest. After the verdict, the PTI chief was disqualified for five years. He was subsequently arrested from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore and shifted to Kot Lakhpat jail.
A PTI spokesperson said the verdict has placed another black mark on the forehead of the justice system. The trial was conducted in the most absurd manner in history by biased judge Humayun Dilawar, the spokesperson said. In this worst trial in history, an attempt was made to kill justice at the hands of a biased and morally discredited judge, said the spokesperson.
The judge who conducted the trial blindfolded by prejudice exposed the facts of the case to a specific agenda, the spokesperson said, calling it the worst example of political revenge and engineering.
The spokesperson said a shameful invasion of the republic and democracy was made through a flawed, ridiculous and devoid of solid legal basis.
“Humayun Dilawar’s decision is a desperate attempt to achieve shameful goals like level playing field under the London Plan. The nation will never accept such a conspiracy and revenge attempt against the most popular and reliable political leader of the nation.”
The fascist regime and the worst state oppression will not escape in the face of judicial protection, the spokesperson said.
PTI leader Farrukh Habib said the verdict by judge Humayun Dilawar will be seen as the worst judicial decision in history.
He said the desire for a level playing field was met and the decision of 3 years sentence against Imran Khan was already being predicted in the media. History will remember that once again justice has been massacred by the court, he added.
In another tweet, he said the aim was to put Imran Khan in jail as the earlier illegal arrest led to immediate release. He said Imran is being punished and thrown in jail so that he could not participate in the elections.
