ISLAMABAD: Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has castigated the coalition government especially PLM-N for playing ‘religious card’ to spread hatred against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a news conference in Islamabad with other PTI leaders Asad Qaiser and Iftikhar Durrani, Noorul Haq Qadri claimed that the PML-N was waging a deliberate and organized effort to make Imran Khan unpopular with the general public.
His remarks came after PML-N leader Javed Latif accused the PTI leader of “attacking the basic teachings of Islam” by “supporting” the Ahmediyya group while in office in a press conference a few hours earlier.
Earlier, PLM-N leader Javed Latif while spewing his hatred, claimed that units of Qadianis started operating in Karachi when Imran established the Naya Pakistan.
“Did Imran not give interviews to the foreign media in which he declared that Qadianis will be granted religious freedom.” He added.
Latif’s comments were condemned, and Qadri responded: “When I joined Imran Khan, it was not just for his political philosophy but also his religious ideology,” he added, pointing out that the PTI government’s actions showed his adoration and respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The “war being waged by the administration was very dangerous as it would lead to division and violence,” Qadri continued. He continued, “These are the ones that wish to sow discord and hatred throughout the continent.
Asad Qaiser, a former speaker of the National Assembly, claimed that Latif’s recent remarks were intended to incite religious animosity among the populace. “This is abhorrent.”
He claimed that Imran was at the height of his appeal right now. Because its members come from all different religious groups and cultural backgrounds, PTI is the only party today that represents unity, he claimed.
“Today, we are here to tell you that when we were in the government, and even today, you have seen our work for upholding Islam and the Prophet (PBUH),” Qaiser added.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, while talking on a private channel, said “The coalition government is perhaps the only government that is utilizing blasphemy laws against political opponents openly. Maryam Nawaz and Fazlur Rehman are building this web to physically eliminate Imran Khan, which is the most egregious attempt to physically eliminate political opponents.
Iftikhar Durrani, a former federal minister, claimed that the administration was infringing on the Constitution and the National Action Plan by promoting “religious intolerance.”
“Javed Latif is currently the current government’s accomplice in this crime. I strongly disapprove of it. The PML-N was founded on a dictatorial system, and they have never engaged in combat using democracy.
“Whenever their political opponents become powerful, they always indulge in personal attacks. A similar attack was done today, and it was an escalation,” Durrani pointed out.
He recalled that PML-N had always levelled personal attacks at Imran. “And this shows that the PDM (Pakistan Democratic Party) has lost.”
In addition, the PTI leader criticized the head of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for allowing television networks to broadcast Latif’s press conference.
