ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday appointed Senator Aon Abbas Buppi as Special Assistant for e-commerce.
The Cabinet Division has issued notification of the appointment of Aon Abbas Buppi in a “honourary capacity.” Buppi previously served as Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal before being elected senator in March this year.
Earlier today, PTI’s Muhammad Ayub Afridi was appointed as the adviser to the prime minister on overseas Pakistanis. Afridi submitted his resignation as member of the upper house to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and vacated his seat. Hours later, he was notified as the adviser to the prime minister on overseas Pakistanis.
The government is planning to get finance adviser Shaukat Tarin elected to Senate on the seat vacated by Afridi to allow him to become finance minister again.
In September, Buppi was appointed as the president of PTI) South Punjab chapter. Aon Abbas said in a statement had said that he was grateful to the PTI central leadership for giving him an important responsibility.
These recent appointments have increased the number of members in the federal cabinet to 53. They now include 17 special assistants to the prime minister, five advisers, 27 federal ministers and four ministers of state.
