ISLAMABAD: A delegation led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with Speaker Punjab Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The meeting held at the residence of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Islamabad focused on the current political situation in the country. Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Tariq Bashir Cheema and Moonis Elahi were present.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Foreign Minister Qureshi said the talks were held in a good manner. Pervaiz Elahi hinted of “progress” on the situation, while Moonis Elahi said the PML-Q had good relations with all sides, both individually and collectively.
The meeting comes after the opposition submitted a no-trust motion against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in the Punjab Assembly secretariat. Opposition MPAs Rana Mashood and Samiullah Khan submitted the motion with signatures of more than 100 members belonging to the opposition.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi is bound to convene an assembly session within 14 days after the submission of the motion. The chief minister will not be able to dissolve the assembly now as a no-trust motion has been filed against him.
Earlier, it was reported that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has accepted the condition of PML-Q for offering Punjab chief minister slot to get support on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. The PML-Q had earlier rejected the proposal of getting Punjab Chief Minister slot for only two months.
