LAHORE: Uzma Khan, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, and her husband have been booked in a property fraud case.
Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered a case against Dr Uzma Khan for allegedly gained ownership 310 kanals of land in Jhang using fraudulent means.
ACE said that Naib Tehsildar Afzal Salyana and patwari Afzal Khan, who abetted Uzma Khan in the crime have already been arrested.
The two are accused of tampering records to falsely give Uzma Khan the ownership of a piece of land and then destroying the original ownership deeds.
The authority said the matter was investigated for fake property deeds and fraud during which they involvement of Uzma Khan along with the two men. The official document giving ownership of the land to Uzma Khan is also missing.
ACE said that Uzma Khan is not a resident of Jhang but used her influence and connections to get the property through illegal means.
Uzma Khan has already been implicated in another case of buying land at lower rates in Layyah by using her influence. She is accused of buying land worth Rs6 billion by paying only Rs130 million. ACE officials maintained that 5261 kanals of land was purchased by paying a meager amount.
ACE alleged that Uzma and her husband, Ahad Majeed, purchased land at the site of the Greater Thal Canal project. The land was purchased in 2021-22 when the Asian Development Bank announced the project.
It also alleged that Uzma and her husband informed the previous landowners into selling off their assets at rates far below the original price.
The duo allegedly received ownership of land through illegal property deeds. The land’s previous owners have also filed a case at the local police station in Layyah.
