Paris Saint-Germain has been negotiating with Lionel Messi over a potential contract extension, the club advisor Luis Campos revealed on Sunday.
Although Messi’s contract is up at the end of the current campaign, the Ligue 1 winner is eager to retain the Argentina captain through the summer.
“At the moment, we are in talks with Messi for [a contract] extension,” Campos told Telefoot.
“I would like to keep him in this project, I can’t hide it.
“We are talking at this moment to achieve this objective and keep him with us.”

Campos also shared an anecdote from the game against Montpellier, where PSG scored three after the break to grab all three points.
“I remember a thing I said to Messi at half time against Montpellier: ‘You have to drag everyone else with you’,” Campos recalled.
“He replied: ‘don’t worry’. And he had an exceptional second half.”
Campos went on to acknowledge that PSG need to put together a compact side in order to win important trophies.
“The top names cannot win a trophy by themselves,” he continued. “They are capable of winning one, two, or several games. However, they require others and harmony. We’ve come a long way, but we still need to advance.”
