President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended their New Year greetings to the people of Pakistan, urging them to work together to strengthen the nation in 2025.
In their messages, they expressed hopes for the elimination of hunger, poverty, war, terrorism, crime, sectarianism, and class divisions, not only in Pakistan but around the world in the coming year.
President Zardari emphasized that unity, discipline, and hard work are crucial for overcoming the challenges facing the country. He highlighted the importance of investing in the youth, stating that opportunities must be created for them to reach their full potential. He also stressed the need to support underprivileged segments of society to ensure Pakistan’s progress.
In his New Year message, PM Shehbaz Sharif called on the nation to collectively strive for a better and stronger Pakistan in 2025. He noted that the past year was marked by severe Israeli atrocities in Palestine, with occupying forces committing unprecedented acts of violence.
He also mentioned the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the brutality of Indian forces, expressing hope for their success in the struggle for freedom in 2025.
Regarding the country’s economic situation, the Prime Minister stated that 2024 was a significant year for Pakistan, as the nation moved from the brink of default to development, overcoming economic challenges with resilience and determination. He acknowledged the difficult but necessary decisions made to rescue the economy from collapse, restore macroeconomic stability, control fiscal deficits, and strengthen reserves.
Amid these challenges, the Prime Minister noted a resurgence of terrorism last year. However, he commended the bravery of the armed forces, who remain committed to securing a peaceful future for the nation through their unwavering efforts.
