KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has not only secured a two-thirds majority in the Sindh Assembly but has also surpassed its record by gaining more seats in the House.
The party has emerged victorious in 84 out of 130 general seats in the provincial assembly. Additionally, it is anticipated to secure 20 reserved seats for women and six for members of religious minorities, bringing its expected total to 110 members in the 168th House of the Sindh Assembly. In Karachi, the PPP has won 10 Provincial Assembly seats.
For the first time in the history of general elections, the PPP has achieved more than 100 seats in the Sindh Assembly.
In the National Assembly, the PPP managed to secure 44 seats from Sindh, including seven from Karachi. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has won 28 seats in the Sindh Assembly.
On the National Assembly front, the MQM-P has established a strong position with 17 seats out of the total 22, including 15 in Karachi and two in Hyderabad.
Independent candidates in the provincial Sindh Assembly have secured 14 seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami and the Grand Democratic Alliance have each clinched two seats.
