The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased basic electricity tariff by Rs 7.50 per unit from July 1, 2023, across-the-country.
With the latest increase, the base tariff will reach Rs42.72 per unit. With sales tax added, the per unit price of electricity has gone to Rs50.41.
Here’s breakdown of new tariff;
- The price per unit of power for domestic consumers who use up to 100 units per month has increased by Rs3, bringing it to Rs16.48.
- A price increase of Rs. 4 per unit, or Rs. 22.95, would be applied to electricity users who use between 101 and 200 units each month.
- Those who use 201 to 300 units per month would pay an additional Rs5 per unit, bringing their cost of power to Rs27.14 per unit.
- A price increase of Rs6.50 per unit, or Rs32.03 per unit, is applied to clients who consume between 301 and 400 units.
- The cost of power for those who use 500 units has increased by Rs7.50 per unit. Now, each unit will cost them Rs35.24.
- The new rate would be Rs37.80 per unit for electricity users consuming 501 to 600 units.
However, the lifeline consumers will be charged previous rates. The new rates will be applicable to all distribution companies, including K-Electric.
