ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of police who laid down their lives while protecting the fellow people.
In his message on Youm-e-Shuhda-Police, PPP Chairman said, “Police have rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism. Salute to martyrs, the real heroes,” according to a press statement.
He further said that police personnel of the country who embraced martyrdom fighting the terrorists and criminals were heroes of the nation and we all are proud of them,
The PPP leader said the police force has always fought valiantly against the terrorists and hardened criminals as evident from their brave resistance to the terror attack on Karachi Stock Exchange a month ago.
He expressed solidarity with families of martyred policemen and asked the government to take every possible effort for their welfare and well-being including the provision of education and health facilities to them.
Bilawal said that law enforcement agencies including the Police have rendered great sacrifices for protecting the lives and properties of the citizens and entire nation salutes as well as honors all our martyrs.
On Tuesday, special prayers and ceremonies were held to honor policemen who laid down their lives in the line of duty as the country observed Police Martyrs Day.
The day is marked every year on August 4, which is the death anniversary of Frontier Constabulary inspector general Safwat Ghayyur, who was martyred in a suicide attack near his office in 2010.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and the whole nation paid tributes to policemen who sacrificed their lives while serving in the force and also expressed solidarity with their families.
