Police arrest suspected killers of Canadian woman in Karachi

KARACHI: Police on Saturday claimed to have apprehended two more suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a Canadian woman in Karachi during a robbery bid.
According to police sources, Iqbal Market police arrested two accused of their involvement in a murder case of a Canadian during a robbery bid in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on 26 August 2019.
Police officials further said that the accused had killed Dr Ayesha, who came to Pakistan from Canada to attend a wedding ceremony. The accused were identified as Rehmat Ali Khan alias aka Wasooli and Ibrahim Ali Khan aka Anwar.
One of the accused in the murder case of the Canadian woman, Faisal Khan has already been arrested, police added.
The police claimed that the two suspects were members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement London (MQM-L) and were also involved in collecting extortion in the name of the party.
On June 27, Special investigation unit of Karachi police had claimed to apprehended a suspected target killer affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) for his alleged involvement in killings of over 100 people in the metropolis.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Irfan Bahadur, the police, acting on an intelligence report, carried out a raid at a house in Karachi’s Orangi Town area and detained Shakeel alias ‘Haddi’.
The police officers had maintained that Shakeel was an important member of MQM-L’s ‘death squad, adding that he was running a group of target killers in the metropolis. He said that his group comprised 32 members of target killers.
Citing initial investigations, Irfan Bahadur had said that accused Shakeel alias ‘Haddi’ confessed to killing over 100 people in different parts of the city on the orders of MQM’s leadership.
The MQM-L target killer confessed that he had killed Sub Inspector Aleem Shah and a police constable Rana Sohail in 2011, Qatar Hospital’s MLO Dr Muhammad Irfan, dozens of ANP workers and leaders.
Earlier on June 20, alleged target killers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement London (MQM-L) had arrested in a raid by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
The accused Mudassir Ameer and Minhaj Shahid had been taken under custody along with another from the Pirabad area of the metropolis.
On April 17, Sindh Rangers in a joint operation with Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had apprehended two most-wanted terrorists of a banned outfit organization in Karachi.
According to Rangers’ spokesman, acting on intelligence reports, the Rangers and CTD personnel conducted a targeted operation and arrested two most wanted terrorists, Samiullah alias Arshad and Muhammad Jaffar alias Barkat alias Iftikhar.
The Rangers spokesman further said that the arrested terrorists were involved in attacks on Pakistan Army, Navy, Rangers and police.
