ISLAMABAD: PML-Q leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi and speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi’s son Chaudhry Moonis Elahi has joined the federal cabinet to whom the PTI government has handed over the portfolio of water resources.
According to details, Moonis Elahi has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Water Resources, a decision which has been taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The decision was made in the backdrop of a promise by the PTI-led government to their allies, which include the PML-Q, that they will be given charge of a federal ministry.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided to make Moonis Elahi a federal minister. Sources said that the prime minister has taken a final decision to make Elahi, a member of the National Assembly of the ruling coalition party PML-Q and son of Pervez Elahi.
It should be noted that Tariq Bashir Cheema of PML-Q is also the Federal Minister for Housing and Construction in the federal cabinet. Earlier, an internal story of reshuffle in the federal cabinet came to light.
Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Sheikh Rashid as Interior Minister to deal with the opposition and he was given the task of dealing with the PDM.
