ISLAMABAD: A high-level Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) delegation on Sunday night visited Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Head Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s residence to seek the government ally’s support in passing the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The PML-N delegation included Khawaja Asif, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Atta Tarar, while the other side leaders who attended the meeting included Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Moonis Elahi, Salik Hussain, and Hussain Elahi.
After the meeting, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Federal Minister Tari Bashir Cheema jointly talked to the media. Cheema said that they had listened to the PML-N and there would be discussions within the party for a day or two.
He said that PML-Q wishes that the allies of the PTI decided together on the no-confidence motion but said that BAP and MQM-P have their problems.
On the other hand, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the Chaudhry brothers of the PML-Q and PML-N have worked on a “single platform for decades”.
He said that both parties enjoy a “long and cordial relationship’. Regarding the meeting, he shared that both parties discussed the current political situation.
Rafique said that the Opposition believes that PM Imran Khan has “ruined the economy” and he has to be ousted.
“We came with our case to the PML-Q. We presented our case and gave arguments in favor of it,” said Rafique. He added that the “coldness” between the PML-Q and PML-N has ended.
Moreover, a private TV Channel while citing sources has claimed that the meeting between the central leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) has ended inconclusively as a deadlock persists over the seat adjustment.
It further said that PML-Q has demanded adjustment on 15 seats in the National Assembly, whereas, PML-N showed reluctance to accept it.
“PML-N has asked Quaid-league to go for seat adjustment on the same number of seats during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tenure,” the sources added. The PML-N leaders said that they have no objections over the chief minister slot but additional seats will not be given to PML-Q.
Earlier, it was learned that PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif accepted the condition of PML-Q for offering Punjab chief minister (CM) slot to get the support of the government on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan.
