The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 will be conducted nationwide on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The announcement was made during a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani.
PMDC officials, while briefing the committee, confirmed that the entrance examination will take place simultaneously across all provinces and regions of the country.
Meanwhile, PMDC also released the updated syllabus for MDCAT 2025. As per the statement from PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj, the revised test will cover five subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.
The examination will comprise 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be attempted within three hours. The paper will follow a uniform MCQ format with no negative marking. The questions will be categorized by difficulty level: 15 percent easy, 70 percent moderate, and 15 percent difficult.
Dr. Rizwan Taj further stated that candidates must secure a minimum of 55 percent to qualify for admission to medical colleges and 50 percent for dental colleges.
To ensure the quality and integrity of the examination, PMDC has initiated the development of a comprehensive question bank. The new syllabus was formulated through consultations with academic experts, educational boards, and universities.
