ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will undertake one day visit to District Bahawalpur on Tuesday (today) and will launch the Naya Pakistan National Health Card.
The prime minister will be accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and federal cabinet members. The National Health Card has already been distributed among people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, District Tharparkar, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
About 10.5 million people from the districts of Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar in Bahawalpur Division were included in the programme, raising the number of people and households in the programme in Punjab by 63 percent.
According to PM’s Office, National Health Card was a revolutionary programme under which a person could avail medical treatment of Rs one million from the designated public and private hospitals free of cost. The prime minister will also address a gathering on this occasion.
Last week, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had launched Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card scheme in Islamabad. While addressing the launching ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister lauded Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar and SAPM for Health Dr Faisal for achieving the feat and ensuring the provision of health coverage for the people of Islamabad, Punjab, AJK, Kashmir, GB and Tharparkar.
Meanwhile, the son of Nawab of Bahawalpur called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and announced to join the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). During the meeting, Nawab Bahawal Abbasi expressed confidence in the leadership of the prime minister.
PTI South Punjab President Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar is being credited to increase the PTI’s support in South Punjab. Nawab Bahawal Abbasi holds an important position in the politics of South Punjab and it is expected that other politicians from the region will join PTI in the coming days.
