KARACHI: Pakistan National Alliance (PNA) Chairman Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan kept his defamation suit pending for 9 years and did not follow up properly.
According to details, Justice (retd) Wajihuddin , chairman of Pakistan Qaumi Ittehad, said that the prime minister had kept his defamation suit pending for nine years instead of following it.
Former Justice (retd) Wajihuddin said that in 2012, Imran Khan had filed a defamation suit against PML-N leader Khawaja Asif on the basis of defamation. However, the adjournment of cases in the courts has entered the category of proverbs.
Regarding the adjournment, Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin said that the main reason for this was the severe reduction in the number of judges and the tendency to prolong the proceedings of the parties. The fact is that if a court party tries to settle the case quickly, it will take less time, he added.
Referring to the case of PM Imran Khan, Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin said that in the said case where PM Imran Khan himself was the plaintiff. If he had wanted, the case could not have lasted so long, Wajihuddin said by adding, “He started his testimony with an affidavit and video link statement.”

Chairman National Alliance Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin said that some courts accept arguments online but the testimonies are recorded in the courts without any compulsion so that the judges can monitor the impressions of the witness during the statement.
Justice (retd) Wajihuddin said that the prime minister’s online statements would not give the impression of affecting the independence of the judiciary. It relies more on deeds.
