PESHAWAR: An unofficial preliminary result has declared Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) candidate Haji Zubair Ali an independent winner in the polling in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, local body elections of 17 districts were held in more than 9000 polling stations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yesterday. Polling was uninterrupted from 8 am to 5 pm. After the voting, the results started coming.
According to unofficial results of the polls, JUI in Peshawar City Council, PTI candidate in Bannu, ANP in Mardan, and Independent candidate in Kohat left behind other candidates for the mayoral seat.
At least 521 polling stations were set up for polling in Peshawar City Council, out of which 91 polling stations had unofficial results. Zubair Ali of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam got 8384 votes and left behind PTI which got 7509 votes.
PTI’s Rajwan Bangash is leading at second with 7509 votes but the results of 430 polling stations are yet to come. Preliminary and unofficial results of 10 out of 414 polling stations of Mardan City Council also came to light.
According to unconfirmed and unofficial results, Awami National Party’s Hamitaullah Mayar 1708 while JUI’s Amanat Shah Haqqani is facing for the mayoral seat with 1070 votes. However, the results of the 404 polling stations of Mardan City Council could not be revealed.
Around 265 polling stations were set up for voting in City Council Kohat. Preliminary and unofficial results of 75 polling stations came out. Independent candidate Shafiullah Jan got 8583 votes and left behind other candidates for the mayoral seat.
In Kohat City Council, JUI candidate Sher Zaman came second with 8087 votes. In Bannu, unconfirmed and unofficial results of 75 out of 286 polling stations came out. PTI is determined to hit the ground running.
PTI candidate for mayor Iqbal Khan Jadoon with 14,623 votes while JUI candidate with 14,426 votes is at the first and second position respectively. The results of 28 village councils also came out in full.
Unofficial results of Village and Neighbourhood Councils
According to the unofficial results of the Village Council, 11 independent candidates won. ANP and JUI-6, 6, PTI-3, Jamaat-e-Islami, and PML-N won 1 seat each in the village council.
The full results of the 16 Neighborhood Council have also been released. Nine independent candidates won in the Neighborhood Council. JUI won 3 seats, ANP, PPP, PTI, and PML-N won 1 seat each.
