ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator, Shibli Faraz has said the incumbent government was paying special focus on the promotion of tourism in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and would provide all necessary facilities to people under its thousand projects in the region.
While talking to GB Chief Minister Muhammad Khalid Khurshid the minister said making Gilgit-Baltistan a tourism hub was the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. GB Information Minister Fatehullah Khan and other senior PTI leaders were also present during the meeting.
Shibli Faraz said the government’s vision to invest in the tourism sector will be a great push for the hospitality industry, which has suffered a massive blow due to the negligence of previous governments.
He said the government was paying special attention to the development of the manufacturing and tourism sectors in the region, as well as attracting more foreign and local investment, in order to revive the country’s economic growth.
The minister said the govt visionary Prime Minister Imran Khan, was taking various steps to revive the tourism industry and highlighting the soft image of Pakistan. However, the govt has also introduced a winter tourism policy to facilitate tourists in the province throughout the year, he added.
He said the region was rich in natural beauty and an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world. The tourism development would not only raise the living standard of area people but also provide them ample employment opportunities, he added.
The minister said the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan was the topmost priority of the present government. He said Pakistan Television was playing an active role in protecting the beauty and regional culture of GB. Filming of beautiful places in Pakistan, he said, was being made part of the new film policy.
On the occasion, the GB chief minister said the media played a key role in promoting tourism. The GB government would fully support every effort to highlight the culture and natural beauty of the region, he added.
