ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has been fined Rs 50,000 for violating the code of conduct as he held a rally in Lower Dir.
The prime minister was fined by the District Monitoring Officer, Lower Dir. The District Monitoring Officer said that the bank challan should be provided by March 22 after depositing the fine.
It may be recalled that on March 11, the Election Commission had barred PM Imran Khan from holding a rally in Lower Dir. A statement issued by the Election Commission said that public office holders are not allowed to participate in the election campaign. In this regard, the District Monitoring Officer Lower Dir has issued a letter to the prime minister in which the PM Khan has been barred from holding a meeting.

According to the letter, the prime minister is going to hold a meeting in Lower Dir on March 11 while the Election Commission has released the schedule of local body elections in Lower Dir. The letter said that due to the local body elections, participation in the meeting would be a violation of the code of conduct.
