ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated the entire nation and saluted the armed forces on the second anniversary of Pakistan’s response to India’s illegal airstrikes against Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister remembered how Pakistan shot down an Indian MiG-21 warplane and captured its pilot. “As a proud and confident nation, we responded with determined resolve at a time and place of our choosing,” he tweeted.

The premier added that Pakistan has always stood for peace and remains ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue. “I welcome restoration of the ceasefire along the LOC. The onus of creating an enabling environment for further progress rests with India,” PM Khan added.

According to the prime minister, India must take the necessary steps to meet the long-standing demand and right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination acc to UNSC resolutions.

On 27th February 2019, Indian jets had intruded into Pakistan’s airspace and in response, Pakistan downed an Indian aircraft and arrested its pilot who was engaged in a dogfight along the border of disputed Kashmir. However, a day later PM Imran Khan announced the pilot’s release as a goodwill gesture.
