ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the incident of torture of 14-year-old girl Rizwana who was brutally assaulted by her employers.
The prime minister sought a report and directed Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi to provide the best possible medical treatment to the wounded girl.
He said every effort should be made to save life and restore the health of the girl, adding dispensation of justice should be ensured for the oppressed girl.
He said without considering who was the accused, justice and rule of law should be ensured as oppressors and law violators did not deserve any leniency.
He asked the police to not succumb to any pressure and strictly implement the law as society could not afford such lawlessness and barbarity. The prime minister assured the parents of the injured child that justice would be done.
Brutal torture
Rizwana was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by the wife of a civil judge in Islamabad and a case was lodged by the parents of the girl at a local police station.
The wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez deputed at the Federal Judicial Academy allegedly tortured her maid after blaming her for stealing gold jewelry. The girl was handed over to her parents who took her to Sargodha where she was under treatment before being shifted to Lahore.
The family of the minor domestic maid said that the girl was working at the civil judge’s house for six months and was subjected to brutal torture by the civil judge’s wife.
Police said that more than 15 torture marks were found on the affected girl’s face and body. The doctors of the DHQ Hospital referred the girl to the Lahore Hospital for further treatment.
The girl’s father lodged a torture case in Islamabad but claims to have been receiving threats. Meanwhile, the wife of a civil judge has been granted protective bail in the case.
Justice Farooq Haider of Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the protective bail plea and granted the protective bail to the accused till August 1.
