ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved to hold online kutcheries (open forums) to solve public issues due to novel coronavirus, that has claimed 72 lives across the country.
The decision to hold online kutcheries has been made to provide immediate relief to people. The prime minister in this regard directed the concerned authorities to monitor all the open forums.
Imran Khan also approved the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of 24 departments under ten federal ministries. Online kutcheries will be allowed for the time being in the wake of coronavirus while social media, radio, and video conferences will also be used.
Earlier on Friday, Imran Khan approved the restoration of the ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami’ project, the government’s flagship reafforestation programme, which was suspended due to the pandemic.
The prime minister on this occasion said that Pakistan is now facing a challenge of climate change and weak economy due to coronavirus. He also appointed prominent businessman and social activist Khurshid Alam as the focal person for coronavirus relief fund drive.
The focal person will be responsible for proposing measures to encourage people and businesses to increase contributions to the prime minister’s coronavirus relief fund. He will keep the prime minister updated about the fund collection drive.
